Lately, I've been getting back into the kitchen since classes are over. I'm a major foodie and practically a pro baker [cough cough]. Last night I had a lone squash sitting on the counter and I whipped up a pot of roasted curried butternut squash soup and then made a chocolate cake from scratch! I mean what is going on?! Well, it's spring and I am starting to feel yuck from restaurant food and takeaways (the Brits do love their takeaways!).
Anyway, I love to cook, the only problem right now is that the kitchen we have is beyond small. And worse, there is no dishwasher. So I have been thinking a lot lately about my dream kitchen- nothing too massive, but something practical and inviting. I personally like what I call 'non-conformist' kitchens. The type of kitchens that break the rules a little by incorporating furniture and architectural details that you might find in other rooms of the house. And of course, the type of kitchen that displays its dishes proudly (mismatched dishes, preferably!) rather than hiding everything in cabinets. Here are a few of my favorite (especially the first one!).
