Rosemarie Fiore

I can't get over how pretty these paintings by artist Rosemarie Fiore are. She lights firework residue on paper to create them- so imaginative! They would look stunning in a room with a neutral palette.

I don't think I would ever get out of bed if I had bedrooms like these:

New Year, New Blog

Hello and welcome to my shiny new blog! I know you’re probably thinking, does the world need another design blog? And the answer is YES! After all, you can never have too much of a good thing. So here it is, New Year’s day 2010 -what better day to start a new blog than on the first day of a new decade? There are already so many fantastic design blogs out there that I have been following for years, but now it’s 2010 and the theme is do your own thing.

There are some things you probably want to know, so I’ll give you a whirlwind About Me:

I was born in Atlanta, grew up in rural New York, and moved back to Atlanta where I met my Scottish-American boyfriend (now fiancé!). We lived happily in Atlanta for two years together. We have two cats with hilarious personalities.

In 2009, we decided that we had to live abroad and travel and eat good food and live like bohemians. And what better country to move to than Scotland? I love Scotland and it also happened to be the land of Glen’s family and heritage. So last September we sold our belongings, packed a couple of suitcases and put our cats on a plane. And now here we are, living in Edinburgh, a city we love.

I am working on my Master’s in Architectural Conservation. I love old stone buildings (and what better place to study them than Scotland?) In the past I have dabbled in architecture, interior design, and art- I am unabashedly aesthetic! My design philosophy is cozy, informal, classic and warm. I like wood and stone. Domino was my bible (sigh).

I really look forward to joining the design blogland this year. Happy New Year! x
